EqUIP aims at establishing new relationships between the EU and India in the area of social sciences and humanities. This will be pursued through gathering information on existing collaboration, identifying barriers to and challenges of effective cooperation and, in addition, searching for priorities for future opportunities for research funding collaboration.
The Staff Exchange Scheme (SES) represents a key activity for this endeavour, allowing staff members from EqUIP partners to visit other EqUIP organisations, facilitating mutual understanding, and building professional networks, good relationships and trust across the partner organisations.
The participants to the 1st staff exchange, hosted by the Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR) on 15-16 October 2015 in Delhi. It included visits to the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Indian Council for Philosophical Research (ICPR) and the Indian Council for Historical Research (ICHR).
In particular, by visiting each other, the agencies exchange knowledge and experiences from core fields of action such as funding opportunities, peer review systems and international collaboration. The main focus is on intercontinental visits, but the programme includes also visits within a continent. You can read here the experience of one of the participants.
Moreover, although EqUIP is not yet engaged in joint funding activities, the funding dimension may constitute a possible future development of the platform. Mutual learning of each other’s practices is therefore crucial: indeed, through staff exchange, EqUIP partners can search for solutions to overcome administrative and regulatory barriers, and highlight any good practices that can make the difference when developing EqUIP’s possible joint research funding activities, enhancing the development of future activities and cooperation on a long-term basis.
